An "Eating Movie"
On Saturday afternoon during a break from canvassing, we were relaxing in the cool basement wanting to watch a movie. Ryan, teasing the kids, said we should watch Jurassic Park as a family. Imagine his surprise when the kids yelled "YAY!! We've been wanting to watch that for our whole lives!" So Ryan, again teasingly said, "Okay." Now this must have surprised the kids because they both looked at me like, "What? Has he lost his mind?" Ryan proceeded to put the movie in and Little Man started getting nervous... "Dad, dinosaurs eat people... Is there eating in this movie?"
When I shook my head yes and herealized this wasn't going to be a 'safe' movie he then started protesting. Ryan figured we'd just watch the first couple of minutes totally forgetting that there is "eating" in the very first scene. By time that scene was over, both kids' eyes were wide with terror and Little Man was literally running to the DVD player almost in tears. Absolutely horrified he turned to his dad and yelled, "You are not supposed to let me watch PG-13 movies, Dad!" So there you have it, lesson learned. I don't think the kids will be asking to watch PG-13 movies from now on, nor will their dad be volunteering to traumatize them anytime soon!

That's hilarious! Tuesday I went with Sadie's class on their field trip to the Dinosaur Museum. Another mom and I were joking that we should have shown "Jurassic Park" to the kids before they went! That would have made for an interesting field trip!
Oh how I have ruined my children to the point that Jurassic park is "boring"
