Ryder absolutely loved Kindergarten roundup. What surprised me is how hard Reagan took it. I had hoped I could get one of my neighbors to watch her, but we couldn't find anyone home last minute (imagine that), so she came with us. When they asked all the new kids in Kindergarten to go look at the classrooms, she jumped off my lap to join them. I should have just let her go but I picked her up and whispered in her ear that it wasn't her turn yet. Her heart broke into a million pieces as she saw her best friend, the big brother she has done everything in her life with, go away and experience something wonderful without her. As far as she has known, Ryder and her were always going to be in the same class as they have done with preschool...(merely because she comes with me to help in Ryder's class)! She spent the entire time with big crocodile tears spilling down her cheeks. She is a tough, independent and loudly dramatic soul so to watch her bury her face in my chest and silently wept was almost more than I could bear. "But I want to go with Ryder, Mommy. I wish I could go to Kindergarten too."
To cheer her up when we got home, she and I had a talk about we will be able to spend a lot more time together doing fun stuff while Ryder is at school. She instantly perks up and says, "Yeah, we'll get to paint our nails everyday, huh!" Speaking of that, she found a black permanent (or so I thought) marker today and "painted" her fingernails with it. I was so relieved when it washed off! I'm not quite into the whole "goth" look!
Back to my Facebook ranting... I hope I didn't offend anyone with my comments. I really do love the networking I have been able to do. There are friends I have lost contact with that I have found there... even mere acquaintances from the past have now become dear friends. It all goes back to balance...
