Our Ninth Anniversary!
Well, we made it to nine years! I can't believe how fast it has gone! We had one of our most interesting anniversaries this year by far! The National Farm Bureau puts on a campaign school for candidates running for public office and the one scheduled in Utah happened to land, you guessed it, on my anniversary! So Wednesday we dropped off the kids at Ryan's sister's house (thank you Katy, you're awesome), and traveled to school. We learned about campaign strategy, organization, etc. etc. etc. from 9:00 am to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and then 8:00 am to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday (thank you Andrea)!
In celebration of our anniversary Ryan booked a night at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Salt Lake. Now, keep in mind that my over-stressed husband had not slept since Monday because he had spent all day and all night at work to get his store ready for a "surprise" audit that the Regional Manager would doing the day of our anniversary. So, after not sleeping for 40 hours, he was practically a zombie! We did enjoy a nice dinner at the in-hotel restaurant called Olio. It had great atmosphere and great food! It was so fun being together and talking about all our fun memories of our first nine years! Oh, how I love him!
Thursday night after school, we had a campaign strategy dinner and then a campaign advisory meeting, so we didn't end up home until 10:30 that night! Boy was I excited to see my babies! ...but so grateful to spend some quality time with just Ryan. It seems I hardly have that time with him anymore, so I really enjoyed even going to school with him!
Well, I thought we had a great anniversary! I really didn't feel there was anything lacking, but my sweet, sweet husband, wanting to tell me how grateful he was that I would spend our anniversary with him in campaign school made special arrangements tonight... Now I know it might seem a bit cheezy, but I am so impressed at his creativity and talent and spontaneity that I can't help but just gush over him!
Okay, so here is what happened. Tonight was a ward party and for entertainment, the ward talent show. I had no idea he had made prior arrangements and made sure that those in charge kept him off the written program, so that he could surprise me and sing "Everything" by Michael Bublé to me! They announced that he would be next and my head pops up in total surprise. Then he comes out on stage and asks me to sit down up in front so he can sing to me! You should have heard all the old ladies! They were just ooo-ing and aah-ing! He had just learned the song 10 mintues before the party, so it wasn't his best work, but it didn't matter to me! I was so impressed, so grateful, so glad that my husband loved me so much that he would put himself out there like that to publicly thank me and proclaim to the world (or just the ward) how much he loves me! Now how can you not smile thinking about that! Ain't he great!?!
Happy Anniversary Baby! I am so blessed to be your wife and best friend! You are absolutely amazing to me... How did I get so lucky to get you... and keep you... and be with you forever and ever... ! I can't wait to share another year with you! And this one is turning out to be so exciting too! Love you...
